Careers in Law/Criminology, good idea? What schools/jobs are good?

I want to do something in that area, but I'm not too sure what's out there and good for me. I do NOT want to be a lawyer, because I am not willing to commit myself to long stressful hours and more than average years in school.

I was thinking to be a legal secretary/paralegal, but I heard the salary is not too great, and needless to say the family is not to proud of my lack of "aiming high"

Any jobs you can think of that are somewhat relevant to Law/Criminolgy?
Also, what schools/programs are good for them?
And what are the average salaries; how in demand are these jobs?
