10. What is a counterexample for the conjecture?

Conjecture: Any sport that uses a ball must be softball.

soccer <---------
chess
ice hockey
swimming

12. Use the Law of Syllogism to draw a conclusion from the two given statements:

If two lines intersect and form right angles, then the lines are perpendicular.
If two lines are perpendicular, then they intersect and form 90° angles.

The lines intersect and form 90° angles. <---------
If two lines do not intersect and form 90° angles, then they do not form right angles.
The lines are perpendicular.
If two lines intersect and form right angles, then they intersect and form 90° angles.

13. For the following true conditional statement, write the converse. If the converse is also true, combine the statements as a biconditional.

If x = 3, then x2 = 9.

If x2 = 9, then x = 3. True; x2 = 9 if and only if x = 3.
If x2 = 3, then x = 9. False.
If x2 = 9, then x = 3. True; x = 3 if and only if x2 = 9.
If x2 = 9, then x = 3. False. <---------

15. Use the given property to complete the statement.

Multiplication Property of Equality

If 6x ÷ 8 = 40, then _____ .

6x ÷ 8 = 320 <---------
40 = 6x ·8
6x = 320
40 = 6x ÷ 8

16. Which statement is an example of the Subtraction Property of Equality?

If p = q then p · s = q · s.
If p = q then p + s = q + s.
If p = q then p – s = q – s.
p = q <---------

20. Name the Property of Equality that justifies this statement:

If p = q, then q = p.

These are the answers that I got:
10. soccer
12. If two lines intersect and form right angles, then they intersect and form 90° angles.
13. If x2 = 9, then x = 3. False
15. 6x = 320;
The multiplication property of equality states that if you have a = b then ac = bc, so in this case, 8 is multiplied to both sides to make the property valid.

16. If p = q then p – s = q – s
The same goes for the subtraction property of equality. If you subtract, multiply, add, divide anything to one side of the equation, you must do the same to the other side to make the equation balanced.

20. Symmetric Property
