Divorce and immigration and England and a Thai woman and then theres me?

I cannot have legal aid but i don't have enough money to pay for a solicitor.So i must try to find another way to sort things. My retirement is just around the corner and i don't want to lose sight of that due to a money scam. I was married in Thailand and the certificate is in Thai language. There are no children. My partner who has not lived with me for over a year is trying for a divorce from me. Her Visa will run out on May 11 2011. Will she be able to stay here until the divorce is settled. If she goes back to Thailand will the divorce still carry on. I am trying to avoid the divorce because the whole marriage thing has just been one big money scam. She could have the divorce with pleasure but i don't want to pay for it. Yes i know i have been a sucker. There is a whole lot more to this story but i guess you are bored enough now.

It sounds like she is already in breech of immigration rules as she should have notified immigration when the marriage broke up not on the divorce, she is unlikely to be given permission to stay especially since she has already breeched the rules. You do not need to pay for the divorce and you don't need a solicitor if she wants the divorce she will have to pay the fees to file the divorce. The divorce will not stop because she is back in Thailand but she may find it more difficult to go through the steps, chances are once she discovers she has to go back to Thailand she will give up. Report the breakdown of the marriage to the immigration office now before you get any further into trouble yourself.

One part of me feels sorry for you as divorce is never an easy thing to contend with. The other part of me thinks: If you had kept your eyes open and your zipper closed when in Thailand there wouldn't be a problem. To be perfectly frank, the only reason a man marries a Thai woman is because they are getting a far more attractive woman (usually paid for) than they could ever aspire to from their own homeland.
Sorry but even if she returns to Thailand now she is still entitled to half of everything you own on the issue of a decree.
