Do attorneys hire independent consultants to review medical records for them?

I suppose this would apply to personal injury attorneys. I would love to here from attorneys as to what their need need is in this area. I've always been interested in doing this independently. What is a good first step? Thanks

Yes. They hire reputable and licensed Doctors to do this work.

You can't just jump into consulting work like this. The people that do this type of work typically have been practicing Doctors for a long long time and in many cases have retired and do this as part time work. A least 10+ years of medical experience would be needed before any lawyer would even consider hiring you as a consultant to review medical records and to testify at court.

Typically, firms hire nurses to review medical records, summarize them and "translate" them. Some will have one or more nurses on staff. Others will hire on a case by case basis.

Doctors are used if an expert witness is needed at trial.

You would need an RN and a lot of experience.

A first good step would be to learn to use the English Language correctly.

The second step would be to go to Medical School and become a Dr. so you can be an expert.

Of course they do. How else would they know whether there is a case or not?
