Should banks and privately owned businesses be allowed to prey upon consumers in any way they want to? Are hidden fees, hidden information about the product or service, false advertising, false promises, misleading claims, and deliberate misuse of existing laws enacted by congress through bribery with unlimited campaign contributions on both sides of the aisle to go unchecked? Is this your idea of how America should operate?
The Guardians Of Plutocracy (GOP) and the military industrial complex, that Eisenhower warned us about, wants it to be this way. How do you feel about it?

It's time for the inevitable reversal of the legislative deregulation during the Reagan admin. which upset the balance between consumer and business interests. Most Americans support socially-protective regulation particularly of health, safety, and the environment, telecommunications, banking, and the airlines.

Why such a disparity, then, between what the public wants and what the public allows its leaders to do? Because "excessive regulation," the mantra of the far right, is an all purpose scapegoat for business ills.

There needs to be limited laws that prevent business from infringing upon the rights of others where there is no inherent market force to correct this. The same way we have laws against murder/theft/etc, yet ppl should be as free as possible. Currently we have too many laws that are overly intrusive and anti liberty in both areas.

No, completely unregulated capitalism would collapse immediately. It's important to find the right balance between creating an environment as friendly as possible to monopoly capital, and ensuring the stability of the system.

I think it's partly up to consumers to watch out for themselves, and for adults to do so on behalf of their kids. There has to be SOME regulation, in regard to bait and switch and similar tactics, but all in all I think it should be largely laissez-faire.

Even the Guardians of Plutocracy don't want unregulated capitalism. They just like to pretend they do to get the votes of the idiots.

No. I believe in a healthy mixed-market economy of free-market capitalism mixed with some government regulation & protection that benefits the common man.
