An audit by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement led to a large dairy operation near Evansville to recently terminate several employees who were found to be illegal immigrants.

Mike Larson, dairy manager of Larson Acres, said "around 10" illegal immigrants were fired from the operation over the past few weeks. He added that the fired employees were not detained by any law enforcement agencies.

"We had some people working here who gave us false identification and we had to let them go," he said.

ICE spokeswoman Gail Montenegro said the agency reviewed employment records at Larson Acres in September. "However, no arrests were made and no one was detained," she said in a statement.

Larson Acres, which completed an expansion in 2010, has 63 employees, Larson said. The operation has 2,900 adult cattle, of which 2,400 are milking cows.

Of course they're not arrested. If they go to California they can go to college for free.
I don't even know why we have the border anymore.

Our first and foremost goal should be securing the border.

This doesn't bother me.

It's not worth the money and headache deporting 10 people when all you have to do is show up and tell them they're illegal and terminate employment.

If everyone did this and was thorough in using the I-9 and E-Verify as intended, the majority of illegal migrants would leave unless they had a legitimate reason for staying.

I just don't think employment opportunities are sufficient reason to hop a fence.

A wife and kids, for sure. But not a job at a farm.

No, and if the identity was stolen from a real person it will destroy their life, IRS, credit, and applying for a job. Many times the employer requires a background check on the SS number to prove the jobs previously held.
