If it does require them and you don't have one that won't necessarily get you out of the lease.

You would have to send written notice to the landlord and give him the opportunity to remedy the lack of a smoke detector. THEN if he doesn't you would have cause to terminate your lease

I believe so. Most do.
Call your local Real Estate office/Property Management office and ask. Asking is free with no obligation. They can tell you right away.

if they do.......and your battery goes dead, you want out of the lease for that tooo.....hahahahah.....
