I was divorced in Alabama in 1987. This was due to domestic violence and I left the state. My lawyer really didn't ask him for anything. I left with some cloths and my car.
He wanted me to sign a quit claim on the land we owned. I never did.
Around 2006 or 2007, he rented the land to a utility company for a while, they wrote the check to both of us because my name was still on the deed. He forged my signature to cash the check.
Around 2008 he sold the property to a friend of his. His friend then sold the land back to him.
My in laws have always paid the taxes in my name and discovered that my name is no longer on the deed when they went to pay the taxes this year.
Do I need to call the D.A., a real estate lawyer, or a divorce lawyer?
