Final Paycheck

I have been working for a spa as a receptionist and last week when my paycheck should have been given to me it wasn't.  I have been asking for it for over a week and yesterday my boss fired me and claimed she did not owe me a dime.  I think she believes that she does not have to pay me because she fired me.  However, she fired me on the day the next pay period ended.  So now she owes me two paychecks and is refusing to pay anything.  I have filed complaints but can not afford a lawyer at this time.  What can I do to get my checks.  Just because I can not afford a lawyer does not mean she should get away with this.
