HELP Buying a Printer for Home use?

Postby chason62 » Tue Jul 10, 2012 3:17 pm

im working on my thesis which requires me to go thru online articles.usually articles are 5-7 pages. Now what i need is a automatic duplex printer. Its troublesome to manually shift pages for every article you print.Sometimes i even have to go thru 50 articles so auto duplex is must.Secondly, MFP is not my requirement.simple printer will do the job.
My preferred brands are HP>canon>samsung>brother. What i have found out from my basic research is that HP,canon provide SFP's with auto duplex at a price of an MFP with auto duplex from brother.SO i am Confused betwenn SAMSUNG/CANON (SFP) vs BROTHER(MFP) - both at same price. So please suggest a printer from the list below and reason for it.

1.CANON LASERSHOT LPB3300 ( auto duplex)
http://www.canon.co.in/personal/products/printers/laser-printers/laser-shot-lbp3300?languageCode=EN#specificationAnchor

2.Samsung ML-2850D (auto duplex)
http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/laser-printer-multifunction/mono-laser-printer/ML-2850D/XIP-spec

3.Samsung ML-3310D (Auto duplex) - same price at No.1
http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/laser-printer-multifunction/mono-laser-printer/ML-3310D/XIP-spec

4.Brother HL-2240D ( auto duplex) - price same as Hp's 1020 laserjet ( but 1020 laserjet has no auto duplex otherwise would have gone for this)
http://welcome.brother.com/in-en/products-services/printers/hl-2150n11.tab2.html

5.Brother Multifunction DCP-7065DN ( this is the beast in terms of specs but im reluctant to buy brother over HP,canon. Also DCP-7065DN comes at the same price as the above 4.This is the reason im confused.
http://welcome.brother.com/in-en/products-services/multi-function-centres/dcp-70401.tab2.html

Other
1.HP laserjet MFP ( Comes with easy refill - legendary 12A cartridge i.e no chip protection)
No auto duplex but do u think this one's better than the 5 printers above in long run ?

2. Hp laser jet SFP 1020 plus
http://www8.hp.com/in/en/products/printers/product-detail.html?oid=3329728&jumpid=reg_r1002_inen_c-001_title_r0001

Its cheap, easy to maintain and has almost negligible refill costs. But no auto duplex.

So Your Verdict please.I have to buy a printer today. Thanks!!

Epson wins for best price/feature comparison, best warranty and lowest cost of ink. You can't beat their warranty. If anything goes wrong, they will fedex a replacement and pick up the old one at their expense. You can get ink for under 50 cents a cartridge at www.ccs-digital.com. You pay under 2.50 for reusable cartridges and then get $2 back for the empties. Or you can buy refillables (which is what Im using now) and refill yourself for pennies. The Epson Artisans are great for photos but avoid the 837 and 730. These are the most recent entries in the line and don't work with most compatible cartridges. The info on the Epson deals is updated constantly at http://ccs-digital.com/Best-printer-deals.asp The 800 and 810 have a $30 auto duplexing attachment.

The Epson Workforce Pro combines the best features of inkjet and laser. Like an inkjet it uses less electricity and gives off less heat than a laser. It produces high quality photos better than a laser. Ink cartridges are cheaper. Like a laser, it has high speed (up to 16 pages per minute) and high capacity cartridges (up to 2400 pages). Prices start at $149.

Brother Multifunction DCP-7065DN quite a good buy! read its review.. This multifunction printer is selling below its fair price and its price has held steady in the past 14 days, making right now a good time to buy.
