HELP Mother in Law issues?

Postby han » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:02 am

I'm 20 years old and I have this skater whatever kind of style of dressing. My boyfriend dresses the same way cause I don't think we're THAT old. My mother in law sat down with me and said I should dress like a lady. She says she's only looking for her sons best interest BUT she still respects me. I live with her and my bf's family. I don't want to dress like a high class lady she wants me to be because I'M ONLY 20 and that's not my style. What should I do? I don't want to disrespect her or anything. She's really nice, this is the only thing she doesn't like about me.

I think you need you make her understand that you have the right to dress however you want. Especially if her own son dresses the same way.

HELP Mother in Law issues?

Well I understand what she is trying to do but you can't change for others unless you really want to. I am 20 as well and I dress both like a lady and a tomboy xD Everyone is different. I guess probably in the future your style will change but in the end no one can force you to dress like a "lady".

You seem to like the woman. YOu could dress conservatively for family events, church, etc. But dress as you please when you and your bf go out without the fam.

HELP Mother in Law issues?

You don't have mother in law issues because you don't have a mother in law. For whatever stupid reason, your boyfriend's mother has permitted you to shack up with her son under her roof. But, I digress.

She is probably concerned with your Sk8tr ensembles because you look unkempt. Plus, you are 20 years old. Isn't the skater look pretty much the domain of the 14 year old? What? Does she have two little kids with you two instead of one?
