HELP -- MY FILES ARE GONE... but not completely... more like hidden.?

HELP HELP HELP!! PLEASE --- I cant find any of my documents anywhere.. well very few. My videos, Documents, pictures, and music are gone! BUT i can play my music in itunes and I look at its location and it is right where it is supposed to be.. in my music folder. From the music folder (only showing like 4 items.. no music just folders) I clicked on the properties button and it shows all 6GB of my music being present. But the "read-only" button is activated and so i unchecked it and I saw it scroll through all my "music".. .Help. please. I have tried a few things including a system restore, logging in under other users and I have tried searching for the files but nothing.. Please help. Sorry I am desperate.. It has all my college work including essays due for finals before thanksgiving.

All your files are still stored on the hard drive.They're just invisible or inaccessible.You can recover them with data recovery software.
