How would I obtain legal rights (patent?) a song I composed when I'm only 13?

How would I obtain legal rights (patent?) a song I composed when I'm only 13?

I recently composed a dubstep piece of music that I would like to share on YouTube, but before doing so I want to make sure I get legal rights so nobody can steal it. Can I do this, and of so, how?

It's not a patent, it's a copyright, and the material is automatically copyrighted the instant you create it. Simple add a standard copyright notice (Copyright 2012 (your name) at the beginning of your video, and you are protected.

I lot of the time if you mail a copy of the written or audio to yourself, the post mark on the sealed envelope will prove date of ownership in court.

see link below for legal ways

Patents protect inventions, not songs. A song is protected by copyright.

In the USA, all creative works are automatically protected by copyright as soon as they are published. A copyright can be registered as additional protection, but it's not required. If you publish it on YouTube the fact that you uploadednit and when is the evidence.
