Whoever told you this is wrong. The judge will not drop the charge because of a calibration done after the fact. Unless the radar unit is also faulty, it makes no difference.
Incidentally, if your calibration showed what you said, it means you are driving SLOWER than the speedo says. That's actually the most common speedometer error, as people use smaller diameter after market low profile tires.
That means that if you were ticketed for 54 mph, your speedo told you you were going 58. How is that any sort of defense for speeding? It says that you thought you were over the speed limit even more than you actually were.
