eligibility requirement. If I move to a different state like Arizona, do I have to be a permanent resident for one year and then the school will start disbursing aid for me. That's what I heard from other people. Is that true. What if I possess a citizenship in state of Oregon and move to that state, will that change something. What are their policy. Please help explaining to me because I don't want to waist a whole academic year for silly reason. Thanks for your support.

unless your parents accompany you to Arizona, or you are over the age of 24, your residency status will remain wherever your parents reside regardless how long you stay in another state. those people you have been listening to are wrong.

If you are an undergrad, under the age of 24 and unmarried, your residency is always where your parents live. No exceptions.

Waist and Waste are different words.

If you are eligible for financial aid you can get it in any state. However, until you establish the required residency for that state you will have to pay out of state tuition which is much more expensive so may need to take out high loan amounts from federal aid if offered and/or get a private loan which is the last resort to cover the cost to attend. Once you meet residency for the state then you can pay instate tuition.
