I agree with norcekri's answer. One thing to keep in mind is that if you want to patent your idea, be careful not to tell anyone about it or post details about it on the internet. You can block yourself from getting a patent if you disclose it before filing your patent. Rather, you must build a working model or describe it in enough detail that anyone with the necessary construction skills could build a working model.
Second, what is your purpose in patenting your invention? Are you planning to go into business for yourself? How do you plan to defend the patent against corporate and foreign infringement?
