i had this crazy out of the box idea, but im only 18, and i feel like this would click widespread, what exactly do i do with this idea? ive tried looking it up but i feel like alot of sites are scams. where can i go to asses my ideas and to patent ?

First, you need to do a *lot* more work. You cannot patent an idea. Rather, you must build a working model or describe it in enough detail that anyone with the necessary construction skills could build a working model.

Second, what is your purpose in patenting your invention? Are you planning to go into business for yourself? How do you plan to defend the patent against corporate and foreign infringement?

Go to the home page of the US Patent Office. They have a lot of good, basic information there.

I agree with norcekri's answer. One thing to keep in mind is that if you want to patent your idea, be careful not to tell anyone about it or post details about it on the internet. You can block yourself from getting a patent if you disclose it before filing your patent.
