Is my driving record bad enough to not get a job at a towing company?

Postby pascoe69 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 1:01 am

It's not as serious as even 1 DUI in my opinion but here goes, I've just heard they look into every single detail. I'm 21 years old, driving since 16, licensed since 17. One at fault fender bender (no injuries) @ 18 years old (due to bad brakes), 1 speeding ticket and went to traffic school, 2 fix it tickets for tint that were fixed on time, car impounded once for expired tags (I was driving to the mechanic!), my license was suspended once because of that too (didn't know I had to go to court for that after I got my car out!) but I quickly paid my fines, and one ticket for blowing a stop sign but the court dropped it after I took it to trial, the officer "didn't have the case ready". That's about it. NO DUI EVER! So hopefully my blemishes aren't bad enough to not be hired. A sheriff had told me recently that I have a clean criminal and driving history according to his database but I'm not sure what the towing company can see. Any help would be great!

if you apply to me with a copy of your dlr in hand and its clean i would consider hiring you
if you started telling all the other stories each one complete with its own excuse ... i would show you the door

They will most likely only consider moving violations. You really need to know what they will see if they run a professional background check on you. The best way is to run one on yourself. (Google "background check myself" -- it's about $25)

Be prepared to explain any violations that show up, but don't mention any of the others you listed. Good luck!
