Is there Corruption involved in the PowerBall Lottery Game?

Postby nickson » Wed Mar 07, 2012 8:01 am

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed something, but almost "everytime" the PowerBall reaches a large jackpot, say in the $200 to $300-million range... someone either from Rhode Island, NY, NJ, or somewhere on the "East Coast" ALWAYS wins.

I live in Ohio, and I never have seen winners consistent in this part of the country... how is it that people on the East Coast are always hitting this? I thing something is in the air. This time, a black old lady won, and she's like "71" years old. Then they put it on Yahoo like it's a big deal... sounds like a cover for something else that's going on.

I think some lawyers or business are getting paid to keep representing the winners in those areas, and thus that's why there are consistent winners from that area! Does anyone else see this?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that there are 10 times as many people living in NY and NJ than in Ohio... (assuming you are even correct with your premise... which I doubt)

Is there Corruption involved in the PowerBall Lottery Game?

I think there are a ton of poor people in those areas- who tend to play the lottery every time. There have been some big winners in rural places- I know one of the biggest wins ( at that time) was in West Virginia years back.
I have to admit I am always suspicious of the lottery officials in my state- the areas with poor counties ALWAYS seem to have more scratch off instant winners than areas closer to the cities or counties with more rich people! In fact the richest county in our state has not really had a big winner!

But I am not sure if that is happening with Power Ball but ANYTHING IS possible people- remember it is RUN by humans ! There was a movie made years ago about people ( true story) who weighted the balls to hit the lottery and then replaced them- Lucky Numbers with John Travolta and Lisa Kudrow.

The lottery is not fixed. Why not? Because it makes WAY too much money as a legitimate business to risk any sort of fraud. It's already the WORST bet on the planet, (no other bet comes even close to being as bad), yet people spend BILLIONS of dollars on it every year.

You see what you want to see. You have no statistics, and you probably haven't even been to the PowerBall website to read about who has won, and how many tickets are sold in each state.

If only 5% of all PowerBall tickets sold are sold in Ohio, then Ohio is going to get only 5% of the jackpot winners in the long run. That's the truth.
