Is this social security/disability fraud?

I know the laws vary from state to state. This is in Va and I can't imagine it would be legal in any state. I know someone who was deemed by a physician several years ago as being totally disabled. She is in the process of a divorce to someone who she was married to for less than 2 years. She's bragging that she's taken him for $500 a month in alimony for life no doubt. She made this man miserable the whole marriage including putting him in jail under a false report. While she was married to him she held several jobs, including one that earned her around $10,000.00 a month for about 5-6 months while she was collecting benefits. He wants to report her to social security but is afraid that it will fall back on him and since she's had several more operations and other aliments to add to her disability, mostly prescription drug addiction, he will have to pay her even more. Should he report her? Does he have a legitimate claim? Is this going to make things worse for him? From what I understand, if you marry someone who's already disabled and divorce after less than 2+ years you only pay for 1/2 of the time you were married, not for life.

Is this social security/disability fraud?

People on disability benefits are allowed to work full time for up to nine months. This is not nine consecutive months but anything adding up to nine months. They must send pay stubs to their local social security office for any work they do. They can also do limited work that does not affect their disability benefits but there is a limit to how much they can earn.
Your friend could go to his local social security office and ask someone to explain the rules and make any decision from there once he knows if she has cheated or not.
Alimony payments are decided in court and your friend needs to have a good lawyer.

Report her ASAP. Sounds like she's nothing but a scammer, as if most folks on S.S.I. aren't scamming........
