My apartment parking space was taken by the owner so I parked next door to go check when she was going to move her car. I found out that she was spending the night in another apartment so I went to move my car when the tow truck was hooked up to it. I told the driver I had cash inside and would pay whatever it cost to drop it and he agreed. I came back and the car was already gone. I drove the 2 miles to pick it within 15 minutes of it being towed and it cost $280. I paid it and did not dispute it, but now a private party parking management firm is sending an additional $50 management fee to a debt collector saying I need to pay this also. This seems a bit excessive to me. Are there laws in Denver that protect me against this fee?

Well, you should be seeking a refund. If I am not mistaken, Denver has a regulation requiring the tow truck driver to accept a drop fee. You identified that you were getting cash. The tow truck driver did not wait a reasonable period of time. Therefore, they owe you a refund. They were only entitled to $64.

Also, always check if the proper signage is posted. In my state we have specific rules regarding the placement of tow signs. If they are not properly posted, they don't have a legal right to tow your car. In fact, you could sue them for damages!

I would suggest you do a little research and build yourself a small claims case. Sue everyone you paid money to and everyone who is asking you for money in regard to the towing. If you sue them, its likely they will not even show up to court to dispute it allowing you to win by default!

I would think so, but I'm not sure. If it comes down to it, a cheap lawyer?
