Seaman to Admiral STA-21 Tips and Feedback?

Postby bean » Tue May 15, 2012 6:48 pm

Okay I am very interested in enrolling the STA-21 program in 2013. I have been reading up on the requirements, and even though my resume is still growing i think i may be a good candidate now. The only maybe holding me back is I was an average Student in High School at times. I nearly graduated with honors but fell short by two classes. I wasted a little time in high school focusing on Sports, and extra activities(Wrestling Marching Band Football). That being a year in the past i Will be 19 years old July 1, 2013 when the applications are due. I went through "A" school in Pensacola, FL for 6 months as an IT. I am currently an IT in the US Navy with 3 certifications (Comptia A+, Microsoft 70-270 and 271, and Security +). I have no criminal Backround at all, not even a traffic ticket. I know for a fact when i apply myself i am able to do nearly anything now when it comes to academics. My study habits are night and day from when I was In high School. Also my PFA (PRT) is in excellent shape as well I run my 1.5 mile in 9:37, 117push ups (2minutes) and 87sit ups (2minutes). I have a TS security clearance, and i am currently stationed on the flagship for the Six Fleet (USS Mount Whitney). We have admirals doing peoples recommendation letters all the time here so i could get credible source and board members. I last took the SAT as a junior in High School and only scored a 1380, with mediocre study habits. I participate in any volunteer opportunities and complete all my PQS's on time. Im waiting my 1 year onboard earn my ESWS pin as well. So im just wondering if my slack efforts in High School or my lack of to many College credits will harm my chance to much.
Thanks

Yes, your lack of college credits is going to hurt

They have nothing to base an opinion on, whether you can do college level work or not.
