Family Jewels

Chatting with my mother-in-law, I asked, "Have you heard of this company that takes the cremated ashes of your loved one and then compresses the carbon into a diamond?"

"Yes," she said, smirking. "It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'family jewels.'"

I did hear about that. And it's maybe not such a bad idea. Except for one thing: Which of the offspring would get to wear their parents around their neck or in their earlobes? Might be cause for jealousy.

If they tried that with me all they would get is a little chump of coal.

Yes, the family jewels a certain part. of the male anatomy,
I have heard about that company. Better that eating grandpa. My daughter will tell about eating grandpa.

Hi. I'm S's daughter. I had a scholarship during my sophomore year in high school to take chemistry at the university. We would have guest lectures once or twice a week and one day poison control was speaking. The told us many horror stories, especially involving children. They said one day a mother called and was freaking out telling them that their children ate something. They asked what and she said, "They just ate grandpa!" The children had gotten into the urn and were eating their grandfather's ashes.

I'm going to be cremated and I can just hear one of my kids using that line. Of course,it would cost extra money to have the ashes turned into a diamond and that's one of the reasons I'm being cremated. It would kind of defeat the purpose.

In some circumstances, diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Yes, heard about it on TV.
Some people thought it a little macabre,
but it puts the old Cockney phrase " he's a real diamond geezer "
into perspective :))

Yes, I've heard about that. I don't want my cremated husband hanging around me though.

Yes, there was a programme one T.V. here in U.K. (about 2 years ago I think) showing a family having this done. A question was asked about that here also, only a couple of months ago I think.

I don't really think that it would be everyone's idea of how to remember Grandma or child or whoever but each to his own. It's an expensive process.

It used to be possible to buy a small container on a chain to hold a small amount of a loved ones ashes. I think that those were popular several generations ago.
