Should I be jealous that my future sister in law/best friend is liked more by my fiance's family?

Postby marlan43 » Thu Aug 02, 2012 6:01 pm

So my friend and I are dating brothers...she is marrying her fiance next month, I am marrying mine in about a year. However, I can't help feeling a little like she is the favorite...for instance my fiance's sister always wants to hang out with her (she never asks me to), his stepmom and dad were dying to go try on dresses with her, but wouldnt even return my calls to ask if they wanted to look at venues with me, etc. I can't help feeling a little jealous and I don't know if I should feel this way or just let it go. Please help.

You have no choice but to let it go.

You can't prevent your feelings. If you are feeling jealous, you have to examine why they treat you like the redheaded step child. If it is something stupid, or petty or something you can change, then you have to learn to accept a lesser relationship with the inlaws.

Maybe she has been in the picture longer than you..they have more in common with her..you should know how it is. Don't force the issue..maybe get closer to her..and then by osmosis..you will be closer to them. She is getting married very soon..you have another year to wait so they are more concerned with her wedding than yours at this point.
And then consider this..cause it happens..are they closer to the other brother? Is he a 'favorite son' that could be the reason and so think about other reasons and just relax, give it time.
