Should What Happened In Vegas Stay In Vegas?

Postby Heathleah » Fri Jan 30, 2015 3:31 pm

This is the situation, one week before the wedding the groom and his brothers along with a couple of single friends hit Las Vegas one week-end. They were very wild young men and enjoyed just about every naughty pleasure young men could indulge in during their stay. Collectively they spent approximately $18,000 in three days. Should the bride forget about it or should she be upset at her groom's naughty behavior? Should she blame her new brothers-in-law and their friends for participating? Note: the money spent was not the groom's. Each of his brothers and friends chipped in $3,000.

Should What Happened In Vegas Stay In Vegas?

I don't care what the commercials say, what you do defines who you are, even in Vegas. I'm hoping that the bride has not already gone through with the marriage because she is marrying a toad that no amount of kissing will turn into a prince. This is why 60% of marriages end in divorce. She should be mad at her brothers-in-law and their friends but they are not the only one's to blame. The groom has to take responsibility for his own actions. What kind of man does this a week before his wedding? An engaged man that can't remain faithful isn't going to do any better after marriage. Kick him to curb now before making children and ruining more lives after the divorce.

Yeah, let it go As long as what happened in Vegas really did say in Vegas(i.e. nobody brought home any microbial hangers-on) I don't see any reason why it should make a difference.  Look at it this way: it gives the bride leverage for the rest of her life.  He never gets to say, "But I never got to..." because he DID.  He got it out of his system, or if he didn't, it's his problem. Oh, and $18,000 for a long weekend in Vegas... yeah, I believe that.  It's actually pretty easy.  I had some friends who spent over $500 each on DINNER in Vegas. (They had the really good wine.) Tickets for the shows also run over $100 each. And the real debauchery is available but it doesn't come cheap. One caveat: I would hope that the groom told her about this beforehand.  It was her right to put a veto on it if she chose.  If he knew what they had planned and didn't tell her about it, that bodes ill.  Debauchery is one thing, and can be forgiven.  Lying about it(and not telling her constitutes lying) is a lot harder to forgive. Should What Happened In Vegas Stay In Vegas?

Personally, I didn't want to know details of what my husband and his friends did, thinking it was his time and I knew I could trust him. (it was actually pretty tame/lame - movies at his frat house with beer.  They thought I didn't know about the stripper - but I found out and really didn't care).   TRUST.  That's the key word in this whole thing. Never mind the exhorbitant amount of $$$ spent over a weekend(who has that kind of dough just to throw away?) and never mind the stupid ideas of friends who think marriage is the end of freedom.    The bride should have known something like this was going to happen - guys that have never done anything like this before would not think to go to Vegas and do all the naughty things that could have happened.  She must have known he had a little wild streak and he would enjoy his bachelor party to the nth degree.    Luckily, the groom didn't spend any $$. (Then, to me, that would be the reason to be upset.) She could start throwing blame around, but truly, he asked her to marry him and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Why try and make something out of a bunch of guys acting like idiots and celebrating their friend's last days of bachelorhood.  I never have had a problem with it.   Now, you didn't go into details and if there was any sex involved with the groom, then that is a whole different story.  I won't go into what should happen if that is the case.    Should she be mad at her future brothers-in-law?  I would say no and just tell that she knows more than they think. However, if she can't let it go, things could only go downhill from here.  With all the stress surrounding the planning of a wedding, feelings and shortcomings seem to get magnified.  In the end, if she can let it go, it will be a blip on the radar screen.  It will be the test of a commitment and the beginning of something great.

Planning the wedding is so stressful, and then there is the bachelor party to worry about.
