About a year and a half ago, I sold an old Mercedes to a girl who was supposed to be a friend, but instead she skips out on the $200 still owed on the car, moves to Dallas, then runs up about $500 in traffic violations all in my name, because she never had the title transferred to her name. I haven't been to Texas since 2008, and I signed over the title to her in Sept of 08'. Now all of the fines are in collections because I wasn't aware of them until recently. My question is, short of a lawyer, how in the heck should I go about getting out of this mess and clear my name?
