Speeding ticket,but not a moving violation?

i got stopped for speeding in a 30 mph area going 49 mph, but my speedometer said i was closer to 45 and i was coasting to a stop, how can i prove this? maybe the radar was not calibrated?

the officer gave me a ticket but he said he counted it as a non moving violation,'' counts as a parking ticket'' he said. how will this go down in court? will it effect insurance?

A few things:

Most states count 15-19 MPH over as the same bracket, so it doesn't matter if you were going 45 or 49.

Second I believe moving violations are things like running stop signs or red lights, and are usually a much more expensive ticket and more points on your license.

Third it can effect the insurance depending on the number of points you earned. I am not sure the amount, but you will likely see a rate increase.

You could appeal this to court, and try and talk the officer down 5 MPH so you get less points and a smaller insurance penalty, but make sure to be respectful about it.

Go to court and fight it. It IS a moving violation if your vehicle was moving.

Take the parking ticket and be happy. It will not effect insurance as do moving violations.
