Teens..Vandalism..caught lying in court?

We were among a few people who had vandalism done to our property.
All of it was tires, except for ours.
There were 3 teens who jumped our fence and cut up our pool, broke our fence in 2 places, and tried to get into our garage.
They were caught and we had court just yesterday.
The teen boy said he was guilty to every crime but our pool.
But when the girl called up in which it is step sister, she was there and said she saw everything and that her brother used a knife and cut the pool in many places along with the other boy. (he wasn't in court).
It was amazing that she told the truth. And the look from the boys mother to the girls mother was such anger and shock.
The funny twist is that we live in a pretty small town and Ive known of this girl since she was in kindergarten, she's in my sons class. I was the room mom for 6 years too.
In which this was shocking to me.
We waited for our turn in court for about 2 hours and she kept looking at me. And she sat with her step brother and his mother the whole time. Yet they didnt know she was going to be Honest. Im not sure if she really knew.
I feel for this girl and pray for her.
Because doing the right thing is sometimes very hard to do.
And im sure she will hear about it too.
Now as for the boy and his mother....what will happen since they both lied in court?
I have forgiven him, but I do want him nailed for all of this too.
The fun part is that both parties live less than 2 blocks form our home!
Hope and pray the summer isnt hell because of this boy and his friends.
The good and bad of a small town.
Thank you for your time and input on all of this.
I just wanted to see what others thought about this and the point of lying in court.
Have a blessed day!

Teens..Vandalism..caught lying in court?

Postby gobrwy » Wed May 09, 2012 11:04 am

If there is ample proof that the boy lied in court, then he will be charged with aggravated perjury. For example, fingerprints, a video tape or other proof beyond a reasonable doubt will prove that they lied in court. This is a serious felony. The issue is going to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the girl told the truth and the boy lied. However if the girl said one thing and the boy said something else, but there is no physical proof that the boys committed the crime, then they might not be charged with perjury.
