I am writing an essay and English is not my native language. Please, check my text for mistakes, thanks:

On the other hand, in the labor level, the State became the main employer of the country. In only seven years, the number of labor unions recognized in the country had duplicated, passing from 128 to 210 between 1965 and 1974, which implied a growth of more than 100% of its base.”

PS, this is American, right? If not, "labor" needs to be changed to "labour".

Your text is good, but not perfect. Your use of the definite article, for example, is not always correct. I have changed what I think needs changing:
