Toy Fox Terrier Help

Postby Daviel » Sun Mar 01, 2015 9:54 am

Hello Dr. Jill;

My wife and I are having a hard time with our 15 month old toy fox terrier. He has been neutered. Is current with all his shots and has no know physical disorders. Our problem is this. The dog can not be left out when we have any company over. He will growl and snap at the stranger. We have had people and come into the house with treats and the dog seems better. However, There can be no children around him at all. He goes absolutely crazy and uncontrollable. He growls very mean, and will bite anyone who tries to hold him or get his collar. He has bitten 3 kids and two adults that he knew. He has bitten me drawing blood at least 5 times. my wife twice. I want to put the dog down, as we are son to be planning children of our own and i am worried. My wife disagrees, but does acknowledge that something needs done. He loves chew toys and will play by him self for hours with my disabled mom. He loves Kong(extreme only) he destroys most his toys in a matter of a week. we have talked with a few people on the matter and suggested the squirt bottle and also when he starts to grow to grab his snout and say no bite. he then will bite whomever grabs him. Please help
