Unmarried in missouri. im having a kid in 6 months. do i rlly HAVE to put his name down as the father?

i found under the laws that says

"if a child is born to unmarried parents, the name of the father and other required information shall be entered on the certificate of birth only if an acknowledgment of paternity pursuant to section 193.215 is completed, or if paternity is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction or by an administrative order of the family support division."

its most likely for child support. He doesnt want to be on the birth certificate and either do i. would he half to go to the state and tell them he doesnt want his name down on it or could i just not put it?

& is it true if your a single mom and the kid doesnt have a father down on the birth certificate you may be payed more at work?

I was caseworker in Missouri. No you don't have to put the child's father's name on the birth certificate. You can put you own last name. However, if you have to get public assistance at sometime down the road, the state will need the birth father's name to go after him for support. NO employer in Missouri will pay you more if you do not have a father on the certificate. It's your decision whether or not to add his name.

not a nice way for the child to start its life

what happens if he/she wants to find his father in later life or needs a transfusion or bone marrow transplant and you are not available to give that advice?

and as for no name on the certificate you should always fill it in for the reasons above and so many more - and make sure he pays towards his/her upbringing - unless of course he is already married and you had an affair - but that is still no reason for him not to pay

No, you don't have to put his name if you don't want too.

No, you will NOT be paid more at work. That is ridiculous.

why ask for more pay at work when you can get child support? Why should the father be let off the hook of supporting his child?

Well, looking at my Birth Certificate, I do not have a legal father. The reason of this is because my father was not present at the time of my birth. If that is the case, I am pretty sure he will not be on the Birth Certificate. As for the last name, I believe you have a choice in that.

I am from Michigan, and only have my mother's name on my birth certificate. I don't know if laws are different here, but I don't have a father listed on my birth certificate.

You should be able to get child support, but your job isn't required to pay single mothers more money.
