My finance and I purchased a 2012 Toyota Highlander March 31. The model we ordered did not come with a sunroof, so the dealership gave us the option to have it installed after delivery. When we dropped the car off, we were not informed that it would be driven over 40 miles for the sunroof installation. Second, when we went to pick the car up, we were absolutely in shock at how horrible it looks. The entire ceiling over the back rows sinks in so far that my fiance's head dents into it. The light obstructs my rear view. What's more is that when we touched the ceiling, it left fingerprints all over the material as if the glue only holds temporarily. Finally, the button to operate the roof looks like it was pulled from a junk yard and glued into our brand new car. We left the Highlander there expressing our sheer dissatisfaction, but were told that nothing can be done until their boss comes in on Monday. In the interim, we've called a Consumer Law lawyer to see if we have a case to take action- perhaps requesting a brand new car because (added mileage aside) the value of the one we originally bought has decreased significantly due to the inadequate sunroof installation. He informed us that Consumer Law in WI has changed drastically and that he probably wouldn't take the case nor does he know of any other lawyer that would; there's not enough money in it he said. While we won't know the outcome until later next week-if the dealership is planning on fixing it to our satisfaction, giving us a new care (haha) or proposing another option, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for us or knows of action that we could potentially take. I appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!
