im behind on my rent by 2 months and was threatened by eviction, which i was expecting. but where i live, landlords are required to give you a chance to pay your debt before they can sue to evict. if they don't follow the law, can they evict you?
by law, they have to either deliver in person or through USPS a written notification that details what you owe and gives you 5 days to pay it.
my landlord left me a voicemail on my phone telling me that i had a little over 48 hours (got the voicemail at 2pm on saturday, have to pay to pay it by 5pm monday) and didn't tell me how much i owe. (i know how much it is, but i'm not sure if he's charging me interest or not)
i have no problem paying him ASAP, but i have to get it wired into my account in order to do that. and in the event i cant get it wired first thing monday morning for whatever reason (are banks even open the day after easter?), i cant pay it by 5pm. and if i dont get it in by 5pm, my landlord says im getting evicted.
just wondering if he can actually evict me if he doesnt follow the city (state?) laws in regards to that whole process.
