What is the best way to handle getting a security deposit back in Pa if it's over 30 days?

My lease was up Jan 31, 2011. I returned the keys to my landlord along with my address and phone number right on the 31st. As of today I didn't recieve anything in the mail or a phone call from the them. I read this off of the attorney generals website.

"After taking out damages and unpaid rent, a landlord or property owner must send its tenants the list of damages and/or the full or partial security deposit no later than 30 days after the lease ends or when the landlord accepts the tentants' keys to vacate the premises early, whichever occurs first. The law requires landlords to pay twice the amount of the security deposit if they fail to provide consumers with the list of damages along with any refund due."

I'm not sure what to do at this point since it is 30 days.

You write the landlord a letter, sending it certified with return receipt card, stating that you respectfully request the immediate return of your entire deposit, as required by state law. Period. No need to get all official on them in the first letter. They may have just "forgotten" or maybe it was sent the wrong place.

ONLY after they reply, or fail to reply within a reasonable time, should you turn up the heat with another letter (you're creating a record that will be put into evidence when you sue them).
