Last month, the police came to my house at 3 am to pick up my boyfriend who had a warrant. I told them that he wasn't here because he had seen them coming and had slipped under the house (I live in a mobile home). But I wasn't sure where he had gone for sure. Well, they went through my house to find him but with no success. When they were leaving, the K-9s got his scent as they were going by the skirting on my trailer. Needless to say, the dogs got him out!! It was horrible what they let the dogs do to him!!! He was bit so badly that he had to be brought by ambulance to the hospital. His warrant was for missing court...not usually such a big deal!! He was charged with a misdemeanor...Obstructing legal process, while I was charged with a felony for aiding an offender!! How could he get a misdemeanor and I got a felony?? Can they legally do this?? All I did is say one sentence "He's not here"! They took me to jail also, but was let go the next day. My next court date is in January. I live in Minnesota. Has anyone been through anyting similar that could tell me what to expect?? I have no other felonies. Or maybe there's someone who knows MN law and could tell me if they can make a felony charge stick, and if so, what kind of sentence can I expect? It just seems odd that my boyfriend got a misdemeanor and I got a felony!! I want to thank you in advance for any information you may have for me. Have a Merry Christmas!!
