What type of lawyers get paid the most?

Postby lifton » Thu Dec 22, 2011 9:36 pm

NOTE: Im the only person in my sixth form that picked law and I just started uni. I was thinking of becoming a corporate lawyer because I heard it's good fun and good money. I want to work for a big company. I come from a very working class family background and I would pretty much love to be middle class/upper class in the next 10-15 years.
So what do you think? Corporate law, international law, personal injury law? or any other suggestions?

Oh and btw do I need maths for corporate law cuz im abit crap at it.

It's really not about whether you're a corporate lawyer, or a tax lawyer, or a criminal defense lawyer, or a personal injury lawyer. The lawyers who make money are the good lawyers, regardless of their field.

Actually, the lawyers who make the most money don't even practice law. They run corporations. They are entrepreneurs.

You don't need much "maths" but you do need to learn how to write above a 3rd grade level and as if you're not texting.

Tax attorneys can make good money, as well as criminal defense lawyers (if you have the right clients). I wouldn't really expect to automatically make a ton of money with a law degree. Especially since it costs a LOT to go to college and law school and something tells me there won't be many colleges knocking down your door to give you an academic scholarship; just sayin'

Corporate lawyers have a strong track record.

Personal injury attorneys have an opportunity for the occasional "home run," but working on a contingency basis carries enormous risks for out of pocket expenses.

I would have to say corporate lawyers. I'm sure if a corporation gets into some deep **** they're going to make it worthwhile for anyone who defends them.
