Where Else Should I Go While I Am In New York?

Hi,

I'll be going to the Princeton University in late May for a graduation ceremony of my friend.

While I am there, I want to be in New York for 2 or 3 days.

So I'll have another 3 days, but I don't know which city is the most convenient and most interesting to go to, as this is the first time I visit America.

Could you pls suggest the route for me?

I'd be delighted to help.  Before I sketch something out that would work best for you, it would be helpful to know a few things about you.

Hi, our family - including a two-year-old boy, a grandmother, a brother and my wife - will go together.

We had thought that maybe we will visit New York, Princeton and then Washington DC. Do you think it is viable in terms of transport? I have a full UK driving licence but have never driven in the US before, so I don't know if one can drive safely there.

We are primarily interested in famous tourist attractions like the Liberty Statue, White House, etc.

Thanks for the Clarification.

I assume that you are flying into Kennedy Airport in New York City first?  When you land, you could easily go directly to New York City and spend your first few days there followed by Princeton.  (Click here for transportation from Kennedy airport to New York City:  http://www.nyc-visitor-discounts.com/kennedy-airport.html.)  If you want to go to Washington, DC after Princeton, the most time efficient and least costly would be to rent a car, especially given that there are 5 of you.  Taking a bus or a train would be costly given that you'd have 5 tickets to purchase.  Also, traveling with a 2 year old(I've done it), you would benefit from the most efficient way possible.  When you are finished in Washington, you could drive back to Kennedy and drop the car off, OR, you could fly out of Washington and go home.  However, flying in and out of different airports often adds money to your tickets.  I've driven from New York to Washington many, many times(my sister use to live there) and, depending on traffic, it took about 5 hours or so.  Haven't made the trip from Princeton.

Lodging:  Given that there are 5 of you, a suite hotel or an apartment might work out better for you.  Especially with a young child, you'll have access to and the convenience of a kitchen.  this will also allow you to save money on food.  Eat certain meals and home and treat yourself to some good restaurants with the money you'll save.  Here are some page to review for suitable accommodations:

Tourist Attractions:

Many people don't realize how exhausting New York City can be.  There is SO much to see and do, so my advise is to pace yourself.  Consider doing one attraction in the morning, go back to your room to rest, and do another in the afternoon.

With 3 days, I'd recommend:
