As our good friend “Bix” has so eloquently pointed out in their question their are more questions than answers.
Whilst Israel is concerned with eminently good reason about the smuggling of weaponry into Hamas-controlled Gaza, it may have felt it had no choice but to intercept a flotilla carrying it knew not what to the Hamas terror state. But, why did it not anticipate that the activists and supporters of a violent, extremist organization that supports terrorism' would act precisely according to type? However, was it prudent to use such force, a force equivalent to the US Navy Seals or the Special Boat Service of the UK against civilians? Our reasoning being “the raid” was a failure no matter which way you slice it, a propaganda disaster. There appears to have been unmitigated inefficiency and panic amongst the commandos, leading to the deaths of so many, raising worrying questions about their skilfulness and operational capability. Also the question of whether the “raid” was necessary and proportionate.
So in the eyes of the international community with this single foolish move, the Israeli cabinet has cast the Muslim Brotherhood in the role of the victim and the Israel Navy as the villain and simultaneously opened European, Turkish, Arab, Palestinian and internal Israeli fronts. In so doing, Israel is serving Hamas' interests better than Hamas itself has ever done.
The numerous indiscretions of the past months by Binyamin Netanyahu and the government, culminating on Monday in a day of disgrace for the State of Israel, a day of anxiety in which they discovered their future was entrusted to a bunch of trigger-happy people without any responsibility. Events that have tarnished Israel’s standing as an embodiment of democratic and humanitarian values, only time will tell what damage to the State he has caused. As, without thinking Israeli government has handed a propaganda gift on a silver platter to Hamas and all the hostile world media.
@Zoom Zoom: It is patently obvious you are not a scholar of International Law, otherwise you would not have replied in such a manner - a student of abject ignorance springs to mind.
EDIT:
@ "greetings_losers and highlighter"; Thank you for your responses, at last real people are starting to think and make informed judgments.
@ "adventurous"; Your points are salient and make interesting read. We ask you to remember this, "politics and diplomacy " are very devious animals. They are not on this earth for the benefit of us mere mortals, they are here for their own mean ends. Most, if not all, will never understand them. The only answer is to listen to what they DO NOT say - the truth is in the silence..Well done, well thoughtout.
