I know this is a really controversial topic right now, and I would appreciate if people who are on kind of the same page as me, or people who can answer respectfully, please do so. I don't want any hurtful comments.
I always wondered why people don't like gays and lesbos, and some of the reason being the bible. I'm a Christian, and I believe in the Word, but I don't understand why people think that because God said they were sinners, the people can act like God and shun them. I really think that even though they sin, they have the choice and the right to sin. It may not be the best choice, but putting up laws about this stuff isn't going to make them stop. It's just going to make them defiant of the laws, for example, what happened with the black civil rights and the women's rights.
Another problem I face is that I really don't think that my family is on the same page as me. I'm afraid to ask them about anything like that, in fear of being yelled at or cast out. I mean my cousin while I was at our state fair, asked afterwards if I had noticed there were a lot of lesbians, and she acted like it was a bad thing. I had replied "No I hadn't noticed. I guess I wasnt paying much attention.". I feel like I have no one to talk to on the subject because of that, and I really need someone to help. Because I'm tired of people looking upon the gays as worthless and stupid and horrible animals. They're still people and I think God wants us to treat them like people, even though they are sinners. Because they sin, they ARE people, just like anyone else. So I don't see why they cant have their rights that they deserve. It actually pains me to see when people shun them, and I just don't know what I can do, especially about my family's opinion.
