Why did Republicans vote against Obama's American Jobs Act if they care so much about jobs?

This bill would have:

- Created 1.3 million to 2 million jobs
- Put tens of thousands of construction workers back to work
- Prevented thousands of layoffs of teachers, cops and firefighters
- Invested heavily in our infrastructure
- Provided tax cuts for middle class families
- Provided tax cuts for small businesses to spur hiring

Despite public clamoring for action on jobs, congressional Republicans reflexively killed the American Jobs Act, saying it was unnecessary.

So how can we believe Republicans care about jobs?

The GOP's only concern is to prevent Obama from earning votes.
