Why is it that people from the USA constantly deride the rest of the world? Asia is poor, "they all look the same", Europe is full of sissies and cowards, and they're evil communists, and I'm sure most don't even think about Africa. As an Egyptian/Brit I find the attitude they display very offensive and downright wrong. They think Brits have bad teeth and all speak like the Queen (fyi I despise the monarchy) and Egyptians are either pyramid-building primitives or Islamic extremists. "'Merica is the best country in the world", the only truly free country, where the uber-rich can oppress the poor for as long as they like, and those born with nothing have no chance of ever gaining something. God Bless America!

Because Africa and Asia are still developing, it's only really fair to compare Europe and America.

In Europe, the poor are cared for thanks to top notch welfare and healthcare. The police are efficient but not brutal (in Britain anyway) and before you start moaning about security cameras and "big brother" cameras are only in densely populated parts of big towns and only cover streets, so it's not like they intrude into your home. In America, there is no universal healthcare (yet, at least Obama has the sense to try to change that) so people that can't afford health insurance have terrible health. Welfare is mediocre, and the society is so inequal that the top 10% of the population earn 99% of the money. Sure, there are no regulations, so psychopaths and criminals are allowed to stockpile guns and kill people. Yay for freedom!

"Everything is bigger in America" yep, including the people and the heart disease rates. Because the corporations like McDonalds own America they decide who makes the laws, so 60% of all Americans are overweight.

Despite being around for 2 centuries, America thinks they're the cultural capital of the world. My ancestors in Egypt were building the greatest civilisation in the world 5000 years ago.

Then America claims it's the only free country, that it's the wealthiest (it isn't Europe is richer and soon China and India will be) and the biggest and rant on about the American dream. America meddles in other country's affairs relentlessly (it supported Mubarak in Egypt for decades and deprived Egypt of freedom) and then invades all over the place, whilst polluting and making bombs.


So what's so great about America?

I'm Asian American, and I'm ashamed that some Americans think this way. There's some countries that are better then America. Some Americans are ignorant and they think that. In American schools, they don't teach a lot of Geography and information about other countries. I'm not saying that all Americans think that way. Just some.

Because the majority of Americans have never traveled the world to gain experience of other people and cultures. The media (mostly right-wing media) keep telling us that the USA is the best on earth, and the majority believe this to be true.

If America was no big deal would you be asking the question. I have never seen a whats the deal with South Africa thinking they are the greatest country in the world question but I have seen a great many about America. And don't tell me that other countries don't think they are the greatest. They do or they should be changing.

It's more about east and west. America respects Western Europe, but the US is considered the capital of the west.

and they kick *** in a lot of things too - especialy in wars.

I guess I was brainwashed from a very young age by American-ism and Hollywood - and so I can never really turn my back on such a great nation.
