Aren't oil subsidies just another "entitlement." If Republican fiscal policy is supposed to be letting the market work for itself then shouldn't they want to end oil subsidies too?

By subsidizing oil to artificially lower prices aren't we just lessening our drive to research and expand new sources of energy that will be more financially beneficial to our future? If consumers can see the true cost of oil right at the gas pump then won't consumers financially demand better sources of energy thus providing energy companies with the financial leverage to provide better sources of energy?

Why just oil? Why does Obama and the libs demonize Oil?

on the subject of subsidies, so-called renewable-energy subsidies (think Solyndra) are 49-times greater than fossil-fuel subsidies, according to studies by the Congressional Research Service. And the Congressional Budget Office says renewable green energy received 68 percent of energy-related tax preferences in fiscal year 2011, while fossil fuels got only 15 percent.

What seems to have Obama especially steamed is the fact that the conventional-energy companies like Big Oil are profitable. Especially the five largest. So he wants to tax them. He then wants to redistribute their income to his favorite green-energy firms...you know...those ones that go bankrupt even AFTER getting BILLIONS in taxpayer money. Sound familiar? I don’t know which is more important to the president — the fact that he hates fossil fuel, or the fact that he hates success. Or that he wants an energy-entitlement state...which is EXACTLY what you enviro-nazi liberals want.

Oli companies dont get subsidies. If they do, please show me a copy of the check the goverment sends to them.

Let me know when you would like to discuss the subject without lying.

"I'm talking about letting the market work as it should and having the price of oil be shown at the pump, and not hidden partially by government subsidies and tax breaks."

So you also support removing taxes associated with gas as well then? Again gas companies dont get subsidies, they get tax deductions just like everyone else in the country including you.

Don't clump all Reoublicans together like that.
I don't know if I'm some sort of new age republican but I support that as much as I despise Obama.

I see no particular merit to the argument in favor of raising operating costs for energy companies. Cheap and reliable energy is one of the things necessary to dig ourselves out of the huge hole that obama has put us in.

They claim it's to encourage drilling. I think it's based on their lobbying, and we need to transition to an alternative fuel as peak oil is a reality. Good question.

And yet another liberal needs to learn the difference between subsidies and tax breaks ( that ALL American manufacturers get ).

The Repugs will answer that these are not "subsidies" but legimate tax breaks.

Of course they are full of shite and they know it, but it won't stop them from saying it.
