Why would the Jones Act keep me from returning to the USA on the same Holland American Boat that
took me from Ft. Lauderdale Fl. to Montral Canada???

Additional Details
Holland American said that they could not sell me a ticket back to the USA because of the Jones act.
I think that there lawyers have got it wrong! who would it hurt ?

Because the Jones act requires that cargo and passengers carried between US ports, be carried on US built and owned ships. Which means they obey US labor laws & such.

Your "Holland America" boat simply isn't American, and as such cannot legally carry you from a US port to a US port.
