Would a JD help me get promotions in the business world? Or would it just be a wasted three years?

I am currently enrolled in my schools 3+2 program to get my BS/MBA in accounting in 5 years. I was thinking of getting my JD too but i wasn't sure if it would really help me climb the corporate ladder. I was thinking since I don't want to be a lawyer I don't have to pass the bar exam so I might be able to just take an online course of it instead of actually spending an extra 3 years in school and spending all that money. Or would the JD not help me at all, i was thinking of getting the JD in business law, a concentration that is well suited for the business world.

Do not go to law school if you're not going to be a lawyer. Even if you do it online, all that time and money is not a good value if it's not going to be utilized. It's one thing for a lawyer to transition into corporate business, but it's another thing to obtain a degree that you won't need or use.
