Just refuse to play the game.....when she says her boy does this ......just say oh nice! Dont play .....After a bit she will figure out you don't like the "comparisons"!

Hi Nina been in a situation like this not with family but with friends. I always thought it best to ignore comparison comments and not get sucked in to the game, this made them stop as I wasnt biting back.
If the comments are made in front of the children then laugh at them about it they will make themselves look silly so dont worry and as the children get older they will know who is right and who is wrong especially if you keep calm.

Ive had this EXACT same issue.
For example if I would say, "My daughter Maya got 2nd at her dance competition! We are so proud of her!" My friend would say, "That reminds me of the time Sydney got 1st!! We were SO proud of her!"

It was very frustrating but she wants you to play her little game, just don't. Reply with "Thats great!" Or "Wow!" Be the bigger person.

Good luck!

It takes two to compete. Ignore it, do not compete. Thus, there is no competition.
