Dear Melvin,
While it is possible to copyright recipes, I suggest reading further prior to doing so: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl122.html -- US Copyright Flyer regarding Recipes If you do decide to copyright it, here's that info:
The application is fairly simple & the cost is $45 per application.http://www.copyright.gov/register/literary.html -- Literary Works Registration Despite what others state, a "poor man's" copyright is NOT the same as registering it. Here's what the US Copyright Office has to say:
"The practice of sending a copy of your own work to yourself is sometimes called a 'poor man’s copyright.' There is no provision in the copyright law regarding any such type of protection, and it is not a substitute for registration."http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-general.html#poorman – Link to above quote Here are some handy sites about non-disclosures/confidentiality agreements:
• NOLO's Non-Disclosure Agreement Page: http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/objectID/2ECF62E6-B334-4E83-9A94FA20A3FAFD38/310...
• About's Non-Disclosure Agreement Links: http://inventors.about.com/od/nondisclosure/
There are also a number of books on the subject; here are some relevant titles:
• Non-Disclosure and Confidential Agreements Line by Line: A Detailed Look at NDA's, How to Change Them to Fit Your Needs, and Contract Samples You Can Use
• Nondisclosure Agreements: Protect Your Trade Secrets and More
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures! Sincerely,
