I'm 14 years old, can't get a job yet, (In Illinois you need to be 15 to apply for a workers permit, and if you get that permit your working hours are limited. The regular working age is 16) But there are so many things I want to learn. I wish to learn how to play the piano and read music, but neither my parents nor I would be able to afford the lessons. I've tried learning from music theory books, but I don't feel like I'm obtaining the proper knowledge.
I'm always at the library or checking out books since it would be expensive to buy all the books. I saw a book on languages and the Japanese language really struck me. Our school only offers German and Spanish classes which I am already taking spanish. I could take lessons to learn Japanese but they are too much money.
I've always wanted to be more athletic. My brother works at an energym as a karate instructor, and while I wait for his classes to end I always watch the gymnastics going on. It amazes me with their grace and strength. I've always wanted to learn just the basics of gymnastics like the flips and balance. Of course lessons cost a lot and I've never be able to make enough money to pay for them right now.
But above all I've always wanted to be a lawyer. It's strange, but I see each case like a puzzle. You are given the task of proving your side is innocent. You are given the evidence and you have to piece together who did what and show them what makes your side the innocent side. I don't know why, but ever since I tried helping my brother with his criminal law homework (which was a mock trial of a real court case) I was drawn in. I'd love to go to a 7 year college and become a lawyer. The only thing is, what if I can't get a scholarship? Right now banks don't want to give out loans, and my parents could never afford to pay for my school.
