I will not hired a lawyer and will do this on my own. First how can I get proof that he has a pension plan? And am I entitled to any $$.
He lives in Arizona, I live in California, both are community property states...probably have similar divorce laws

I agree that you should not do this without a lawyer. You will get the short end of the stick.

Contact his place of employment and find out. I doubt seriously that you can do this without a lawyer being involved. Any amendment to a divorce decree is going to require a lawyer. They will have to get some special form to be able to get that information about your ex. Good luck!

This should have been settled as part of the divorce settlement. You are entitled to whatever the settlement papers specify, but nothing else.

No no no, you need to hire an attorney. It will be the best investment that you make. I thought I could do it on my own, but once reality set in, hiring an attorney was the best thing I could have done to protect myself.

Get a lawyer. In Ohio you are entitled to one year of pension for every 3 years you have been married. I f you are waiting for him to hand it over, you might as well get comfortable. Ain't gonna happen. You don't know if he has a pension plan???

You really need to get an attorney. It would be a wise investment if you have a lot to things to split. He/she will know all that you are entitled to and know how to get it. Also if he makes considerable amount of money more then you, you may be able to get him to pay your attorneys fees..just a thought.

You will never get near his pension or any info regarding it without a lawyer. They cant release info even to a spouse.
