Am I wrong to expect my sister to take public transportation to and from school after...?

Postby gilleabart » Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:36 am

...she got 5 speeding and red light tickets in 8 months (and her license consequently suspended).

She's 25 and it would take her about an hour and 15 minutes to get home (as opposed to about 25 if she were driven). Half the trip would be through semi-ghetto neighborhoods, but the bus goes directly from a community college to a state university during broad daylight hours.

My mom says I'm inconsiderate for not driving her (claiming public transportation is not safe), but I think I'd just be supporting her irresponsible behavior if I chauffeured her around town.

You can give her rides sometimes. Her having to do without an auto is punishment enough. She was being irresponsible, yes, but you can cut her some slack. You may need her help some day and we all make mistakes.

If I were you, I would think the same thing. At least have your sister pay for gas.
