Americans,...should American businesses who employ AMERICANS,..be closed down or ship their jobs overseas?

Postby lalla3 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:57 pm

I posted a question the other week titled:

"Should all guitar players of the World Unite and fight Fascism in the United States?"
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjG5UFnNmKsXWgCr2Y2DPFYhBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20110829045402AAi9Zl4

In this question I pointed out how "For the second time in two years, armed federal agents have illegally raided the manufacturing facilities of Gibson Guitars Corp., this time confiscating more than a million dollars worth of imported wood and ebony; and they did so without proper notice or warning, without any valid reason, and without lawful charges of any kind."

I also pointed out the FACT, that "While many other US instrument manufacturers have outsourced production to other companies, Gibson has hired 580 American employees in the past two years alone, which build its guitars domestically."

That's right, Gibson Guitars are one of the few companies out there who are employing AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Now, as an update to this question I'd like to inform you of how the Gibson Guitar saga has taken a sinister turn.

It seems that the Department of Justice wasn’t satisfied with merely raiding the law abiding factories of Gibson Guitar with armed agents, shutting down their operation costing them millions, and leaving the American company in the dark as to how to proceed without going out of business.

Now, according to Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, agents of the United States government are bluntly informing them that they’d be better off shipping their manufacturing labor overseas.

Interesting is it not?

So I'd like to ask once again; should all American guitar players, and in particular Guitar players who are famous rock stars, unite against Fascism in the United States?

All thoughts welcome.

They should not be targeted for employing Americans and yes, if only some well-healed musicians would stand up to this administration, but it won't happen for reasons already described.

Gibson is non union. Therein lies the big problem. Any excuse to shut them down will do. Unions help re-elect democrats. It's terrible, but, nothing about this administration's reach for more power even surprises me anymore.

Paul, with this administration it isn't *if someone broke the law, it's how are they politically connected in this country. If Gibson were a large donor to democrats, it would have been safe to import wood.

Even Andy Stern alluded to political payback after the election of the anointed one.

Should they? Yeah.

Will they? No. Guitarists may be awesome at what they do, but 99 bar 9 percent of them don't know jack about politics or economics. And the rich ones will probably just think "Cheaper Gibsons?! Awesome. I'm buying a Bentley, ******."

1) To Paul Hxyz. WRONG! The DoJ is part of the EXECUTIVE Branch. It's head, the Attorney General reports to the President.

2) Who determined the Gibson raids were illegal? I don't know of any such court ruling.
The feds had proper search warrants and indictments are expected on illegal importation of endangered woods.

Funny how you forgot to mention the allegation of UNLAWFUL activity on Gibson's part.

I'm sure it was merely an oversight on your part and not an attempt to deceive.

IF and only if Gibson broke the law they should be punished. However, it looks like an overzealous Fish and Wildlife agent named John M. Rayfield, who seems to want to make a name for himself is behind all this, NOT the Obama Administration.

Btw: The DOJ is in the JUDICIAL branch of the government, the POTUS is the EXECUTIVE branch of the government and does NOT control the DOJ.
