Any ideas for a paper?

Postby avikar76 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 6:13 pm

I have to write a minimum 3 page paper examining the causes and/or effects of gender stereotypes in America. This is the writing prompt:

Pick an issue dealing with the causes and/or effects of a racial issue or perception in the United States. You may want to examine the causes and/or effects of one of the racial stereotypes that we discussed or you may want to find a contemporary issue involving race. For example, what are the causes and/or effects of the crackdown on immigration from Mexico? What about the new immigration law in Arizona? How about the controversy over the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque"? What about the new study that claims that black males are twice as likely to drop out of high school as white males?

I don't want to do any of those because it's one topic per person and those have already been chosen. So any ideas?

The book "The Bell Curve" was an academic reflection of what many people were thinking, and its appearance fortified the prejudices that the book supposedly justified. Unfortunately, the book is full of bad science and bad statistics. In order to fin out about this, you don't have to get the book, but you can just follow the information and links given in the article below, or similar articles. That will give you easily more than three pages.
